The Certification of Capability in Business Analysis™ (CCBA®) is a professional credential offered by IIBA® for mid-level business analysts who want to validate their skills and knowledge aligned with the BABOK® Guide.
To qualify, you must have:
- At least 3,750 hours of BA work experience (aligned with BABOK®) in the last 7 years
- A minimum of 900 hours in 2 knowledge areas, or 500 hours in 4 knowledge areas
- 21 hours of professional development (PD) in the last 4 years
- A signed Code of Conduct and terms and conditions
The exam is based on the BABOK® Guide v3 and covers 6 knowledge areas:

- Elicitation and Collaboration
- Requirements Life Cycle Management
- Strategy Analysis
- Requirements Analysis and Design Definition
- Solution Evaluation
The CCBA® exam has 130 multiple-choice questions and must be completed in 3 hours. It is scenario-based and tests application of knowledge, not just memorization.

Yes, IIBA offers the CCBA® exam online via remote proctoring, or you can take it at a PSI test center.
You can retake the exam up to two more times within your 1-year eligibility period. Additional exam fees apply for each attempt.
